The Birth of TV in Frith Street

Little fact about Frith Street that you many not have realised is on this plaque . On January 26, 1926 John Logie Baird demonstrated a fully working prototype of mechanical television to members of the Royal Institution at 22 Frith Street, Baird's residence and laboratory.

Panorama Sunday Night

Did anyone else see the SV on Panorama last night..
What Future For Kurt?
Panorama investigates whether the government can fulfil its goal of ending "postcode poverty" within two decades.

It was during this story..
I know both Kurts Dad and the bloke that was on the SV.....

You can watch the video of the show from the BBC website here:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/4350740.stm#
The Panorama episode

The SV and some other bikes plus Portsdown Hill appears at 31 min's.
Though I initially watched the show to see my mate on the SV and that I knew Kurts Dad I would watch the whole story as it was a very good show and Kurts Dad is a nice bloke...

R6 Throttle conversion for the SV (carb'd)

Paparently if I put on a R6 throttle tube Part number 5SL-26240-01-00 it will change my trottle response from a 1/5 turn to a 1/4 turn. Which will mean I'm quicker on the gas, full throttle without moving your hand, to re-position.

Found these instructions:
Lift tank.
Loosen throttle cables.
Remove bar end weight
Remove throttle grip, philips screws underneath.
Remove throttle cable from OE throttle tube, replace with R6 throttle tube.
Re-assemble in reverse order.

Check out your Haynes or owner manual and read through the sections for adjusting throttle cables.
If you haven't got a Haynes you can get one from most Halfords.

It's very simple, you're just taking tension off the cables and replacing one part with the new one. Take your time and you'll be fine.

Dodgy Coil

This is the coil that caused all my problems... The hatefull thing, had to spent 40 quid on a new one. Plus another 20 on new spark plugs and caps, is this bike becoming a cash bucket or did the previous owner ever take a spanner to it. I'm just gad I have a mate who's a mechanic else I'd be well stuck..... Cheers Taz, your a great bloke. Posted by Picasa

Duff HT Lead

This is the reason my bike was loosing power, the plug was tracking and not firing the piston correctly. Looks like I need a new HT lead. Posted by Picasa

My old Spark plug... think I'll order some new ones. But this is not the reason my bike broke down this morning. Posted by Picasa

Broken Down Again.

Its was my first day back at work today after 3 weeks off with my bad hand. I was almost their after I had riden though the most torrential rain and huge amounts of standing water when the bike started to loose power. After a brief stop and a bit of head scratching I've managed to nurse it to work. Though there are is still something wrong with the engine, I think its possibly water in the plugs and I've lost some cylinders or something. So I've left it to dry out a bit and I'm going to check it over at lunch time. Hopefully it will fire back into life and I'll be able to get it home, and do something about the problem (more grease maybe?).

Looking a new bike...

I'll be looking at a new bike tonight for my journey to work, a J reg ZZR6. Hopefully replacing that fuel guzzling GT750 I have at the moment. Though I am a tad worried about the possible cost of parts if I was to have a off, so I'll have a flick though ebay.
